Moving into Care

On your arrival at Observatory Village Care, you'll be welcomed, shown to your new room, and introduced to the Team. Everything will happen at an agreed pace so as not to overwhelm you. A Registered Nurse will meet with you to discuss your health and personal care needs and develop your care plan, including your physical, social, spiritual and cultural well-being and your individual needs and goals. This will be reviewed at regular intervals throughout your stay. You may wish your nominated family member or Enduring Power of Attorney to help. Our Activities team will meet with you. This is an excellent time to share your fun and interesting hobbies, achievements, likes and dislikes, and it enables us to make your journey with us as enjoyable as possible. You have the privacy of your room to allow you to enjoy the peace of your own surroundings. However, we encourage you to join the Activities and take your meals in the Dining area to help you socialise with our other residents.

Making it feel like homeAll our Rooms are fully furnished with the appropriate furniture. Should you want to bring your armchair or any other piece of furniture, please talk with our Team prior, to ensure that it works with your Care needs and our Health & Safety obligations. We recommend displaying your personal belongings and photos to make you feel at home. Our Maintenance person will install the required picture hooks as you request. We discourage you from keeping cash, expensive jewellery and treasured family items in the Care Room and recommend that these remain with a relative or friend for safekeeping.
